Milford Sound Full Day Tour and Cruise from Te Anau
Combine a luxury coach tour through spectacular alpine scenery in one of New Zealand's more remote areas with a cruise on Milford Sound on this full day tour of Fiordland National Park.
Departing Te Anau on your glass roofed luxury coach you will travel to Milford Sound along one of NZ’s most isolated and beautiful highways, the 119km Milford Road. The winding road takes you through magnificent beech forest, past mountains and vast plains, valleys, lakes and small townships.
See the Mirror Lakes on a calm day reflecting perfectly the snow covered Earl Mountains towering high above them and travel through the pitch black Homer Tunnel, a 1.2km tunnel cut through the Homer Saddle in a steep gradient down towards Milford. The area around the tunnel is covered with alpine shrubs, flowers and tussock and is home to the world’s only alpine parrot, the mischievous Kea.
Once at Milford you will board your boat and cruise the length of the sound out to the Tasman Sea. The steep cliffs in the fiord were carved by an ancient glacier and you will be amazed that the rainforest clings to the rock face in the midst of thundering waterfalls that pour into the water around you. The cruise takes in the waterfalls, rainforest and wildlife that make Milford Sound one of New Zealand’s most spectacular wonders.
