Abu Dhabi Corniche
A leisurely stroll along the Abu Dhabi Corniche is one of the best things to do when you travel to Abu Dhabi. This seaside boardwalk is 4 miles long. The walkways are paved and dotted with benches, gardens and amazing views of the Arabian Gulf.
It is a great spot for an evening walk (when its a bit cooler). The corniche is well lit and quite safe. You can easily walk from many of the Corniche hotels to Marina Mall and Heritage Village by following the Corniche pathways. Don't miss out on a visit to the beaches along the Abu Dhabi Corniche. The free beach is open to anyone.
There is also family beach along the Corniche. It extends from the Hilton Hotel to Al Khaleej Al Arabi street. There are several cafes and icecream shops near all the beaches here. You can rent beach umbrellas here. Kids will love the playground here. There are several beach volleyball courts. The beach is open from 7:30 am to midnight. AED 5 Entry fee for Families. There is a parking area further up on along the Corniche with a shuttle service to the beach. There are often activities going on at the beach such as free concerts, water sport competitions and other events.
Enjoy the crystal blue waters and the white sand! There is a host of water sports instruction or lessons available through the hotels along the Corniche. You are welcome to walk, bike and roller blade along the paths. There are a few bike rental companies along the way. There is one near the Hilton Hotel, and at the 26th Street and 30th Street junction.
You can rent adult bikes, kid bikes and even family bikes! They are available for hire on an hourly basis and must be returned to the location you rented it from. Remember you need to leave a piece of ID and a deposit in order to rent the bikes but they are quite reasonably priced.
There are several parks across the road with kids playgrounds including one with a pirate ship to climb on. You can access these by pedestrian crossings and pedestrian tunnels. There is also a skate boarding park along the way.
